Scoring on Quizzes
The difficulty level of each question is taken into account when calculating the passing score of quizzes. Easy questions are worth 1 point, medium questions are worth 3 points, and hard questions are worth 5 points. For example, let's say you have a quiz with three questions and an 80% passing score:
- one easy question (1 point),
- one medium question (3 points), and
- one hard question (5 points)
The total points for this quiz would be 1 + 3 + 5 = 9 points. To pass the quiz, you would need to score at least 80% of 9 points, which is 7.2 points.
Here is another example:
- five easy questions (5 points),
- three medium questions (9 points), and
- two hard questions (10 points)
The total points for this quiz would be 5 + 9 + 10 = 24 points. To pass the quiz, you would need to achieve the passing score set by the quiz creator. For this quiz, let’s say the passing score is 70%. You need to score at least 16.8 points to pass this quiz.
The minimum number of questions required to pass the quiz depends on the total points available and the passing score. As long as you achieve at least the passing score set by the quiz creator, regardless of the number of questions you answer correctly or incorrectly, you will pass the quiz.
