AI-Generated Malware Raises New Cybersecurity Concerns

Cybersecurity researchers have identified a new malware sample believed to have been created with the help of the AI model DeepSeek, demonstrating how artificial intelligence can be used to develop increasingly sophisticated cyber threats with minimal technical expertise.

Disguised as a fake AI tool, the malware was designed to trick users into granting access to their files while secretly stealing sensitive information such as passwords, credit card details, cryptocurrency wallets, and other personal data. Researchers noted that the attack can perform harmful actions directly through a web browser, without requiring victims to install traditional malware.

Although there is currently no evidence that this technique has been used in real-world attacks, researchers warn that AI is lowering the barrier for cybercriminals to create advanced threats. Organizations and users are encouraged to stay cautious by avoiding suspicious websites, verifying unexpected requests for file access or permissions, keeping software up to date, and remaining alert to phishing attempts.
