Improve and Regularly Change your Passwords/Passphrases

Nothing you do online is safe unless you use strong passwords that can actually protect your information. Most people use the same password everywhere, and their password is often easy to guess. You’d be amazed at how many people use passwords like "ABC123" or "12345". Using a password like this is basically asking to be hacked. You may be advised to include special characters like exclamation marks or hyphens in passwords to make them stronger.

In addition to creating strong...

Avoid Jailbreaking Devices

A phone's operating system can be bypassed through a procedure known as "jailbreaking," which is usually done to gain more control over the device and access features that aren't accessible through official channels or app stores. When a mobile device's built-in security features are disregarded, it can result in significant security threats such as the infection of mobile devices with viruses and malware, system instability, data loss, and illegal access. Recovery Questions? Use your Imagination!

It is advisable to be creative in your responses to account recovery inquiries. When setting up a new online account, you are often prompted to provide an "account recovery question" in case you forget your password and need help. These questions are used to identify you, but they are also simple to answer, so an attacker may use that information to gain unauthorized access to your accounts.

To strengthen your account's security, use your imagination when answering a question on...

Trust Legitimate App Stores

It's important to only download apps from reputable app stores, such as Google Play or Apple's App Store, as these platforms have security protocols in place to safeguard customers from dangerous apps. Using untrustworthy apps from suspicious stores can lead to several security risks, including malware and virus infections, data theft, and phishing attacks.

Stop Facial Auto-Tagging

Based on facial recognition technology, social networking sites' facial auto-tagging function automatically recognizes and tags people in images or videos. Although consumers may find this feature helpful, it can potentially create serious security issues, such as privacy concerns, false identification, cyberstalking, and unauthorized access.
